We are thrilled to introduce our newest single-origin coffee, Mexico Pluma Santa Cruz, a shining example of the dedication and craftsmanship of 12 smallholder farmers from Santa Cruz Ozolotepec, Oaxaca. This coffee is a true reflection of the unique growing conditions of the Sierra Madre del Sur coastal mountain range, offering a taste of the vibrant Mexican landscape in every cup.
A Journey Through Oaxaca
The coffee-growing region of Santa Cruz Ozolotepec is located in the scenic and remote mountains of Oaxaca, where the journey to the farms winds through traditional villages and lush forests intercropped with bananas, corn, and fruit trees. The area’s altitude ranges from 900 to 1250 meters above sea level, creating ideal conditions for cultivating Typica, Criollo, Bourbon, Mundo Novo, and Caturra coffee varieties.
The volcanic clay mineral soil, combined with careful cultivation methods, yields a coffee rich in flavor and character. Each of the 12 producers who contribute to this lot uses their own micro-mill to depulp, ferment, wash, and sun-dry their coffee, preserving its unique qualities. Once processed, the dried parchment is delivered to Galguera Gomez, a family-owned export company in Oaxaca that pays the farmers higher incomes for the quality of their beans and ensures traceability.
