Costa Rica Monte Crisol - Washed - NEW SINGLE ORIGIN!

Introducing Our New Single-Origin Coffee: Costa Rica Monte Crisol

We are thrilled to announce our latest single-origin release: Costa Rica Monte Crisol, a beautifully balanced washed-process coffee from the Coopepalmares cooperative in Alajuela. This coffee is a delicious tribute to Costa Rica’s rich coffee-growing heritage, offering a flavor profile that is perfect for the fall season, with tasting notes of orange, baking spices, and chocolate.

The Coopepalmares Cooperative

Monte Crisol is produced by the Coopepalmares cooperative, an organization that has been supporting smallholder coffee farmers in Alajuela for decades. The cooperative has over 1,400 members, many of whom farm coffee on family-owned plots in the fertile volcanic loam soil of the Palmares region at an altitude of 1,300 meters. The region’s unique combination of elevation, climate, and soil creates ideal growing conditions for coffee varieties like Caturra and Catuai, which are known for their vibrant flavors and clean, crisp acidity.

At its state-of-the-art processing facility, Coopepalmares uses eco-pulping methods and sun-dries the coffee on patios, ensuring that each batch is handled with care to preserve the integrity of the coffee's flavor. Their commitment to quality and sustainability is evident through their certifications in environmental management and energy-efficient drying practices, such as the use of mechanical dryers (guardiolas) that recirculate air to reduce energy consumption.

Sustainability and Community Impact

The Coopepalmares cooperative is not just a coffee producer; it is also a key player in the economic and social well-being of its community. The cooperative provides low-interest loans, healthcare services, and educational opportunities to its members, ensuring that the benefits of coffee production extend beyond the farm. In addition, they operate two supermarkets, a hardware store, and even sell roasted coffee locally. Their efforts to create a positive social impact are a model for how coffee cooperatives can serve both their members and their wider communities.

On the environmental front, Coopepalmares is committed to reducing its ecological footprint. The cooperative produces organic fertilizer to enrich the soil and has a water treatment plant to protect local water sources. Their use of recycled water during coffee processing and focus on efficient energy use highlights their dedication to sustainability.

Tasting Notes

Monte Crisol brings together the flavors of Costa Rica’s best coffee-growing regions in a cup that is as comforting as it is complex. With tasting notes of orange, baking spices, and chocolate, this coffee offers a harmonious balance of citrus brightness, warm spices, and a smooth, chocolatey finish. Its medium body makes it ideal for those who enjoy a full-flavored cup with balanced acidity and sweetness.

Whether brewed as a pour-over or in your favorite drip machine, Monte Crisol is sure to become your go-to fall coffee. We recommend brewing this coffee with a 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio to bring out its clean, bright flavors, but feel free to experiment with your brewing method to find the balance that best suits your taste.

A Commitment to Quality

At Blossom Coffee Roasters, we believe that great coffee starts with great partnerships. Our relationship with the Coopepalmares cooperative is built on a shared commitment to quality, sustainability, and community impact. We are proud to offer you a coffee that not only tastes amazing but also contributes to the well-being of the people and the land that produced it.
